Lawton Ridge Winery
Description
The Schultz Family, owners of Schultz Fruitridge Farms and Texas Corners Brewing Company, has recently acquired Lawton Ridge Winery. Since 2008, Dean and Crick, the previous owners, have established a reputation for quality wines crafted from Michigan-grown grapes. With their retirement, the Schultz Family is dedicated to continuing this legacy and maintaining the high standards set by their predecessors.
Plans for the winery include expanding the selection of wines and ciders and integrating these offerings into the Texas Corners Brewing Company restaurant and the Schultz Fruitridge Farms market. The winery, located at 8456 Stadium Drive near Kalamazoo, is currently closed for renovations and awaiting a new license. It is expected to reopen by the weekend before New Year’s. Updates will be provided through social media and the winery's website.
Lawton Ridge Winery’s grapes benefit from the Lake Michigan Shore AVA, known for its ideal conditions for cool climate viticulture. Established in 1974 on a former peach orchard, the vineyard has transitioned from home winemaking to producing award-winning wines exclusively at Lawton Ridge since 2007. The winery’s meticulous handwork throughout the growing seasons ensures top-quality wines, reflecting a commitment to excellence in every bottle.
